14:00 The Chemistry of the Oil Sands - the development of the oil sands presents enormous challenges and opportunities for the chemical sciences.
In order for this resource to supply our future energy needs, we need to improve the energy efficiency of the production and conversion processes, while at the same time reducing the environmental impact.
This panel discussion is co-sponsored by the Energy Subject Division of the CIC and will feature presentations on the scientific and research challenges of the oil sands.
The panel will encourage discussion on the need for new chemical research and the prospects for employment of chemical professionals in this rapidly growing sector.
Panelists include Ross Chow, Randy Mikula, Ron Myers, Mike Sprague and Harald Thimm
